WillowWarm Gold Cup & Family Day

A GOLDEN day for the whole family that also happens to feature The Grade 1 WillowWarm Gold Cup.

Lets talk about the racing first of all, the WillowWarm Gold Cup is the feature race on the second day of the Easter Festival and has been won by horse heroes such as Gold Cup winners Galopin Des Champs & Al Boum Photo. The seven race card also features two Grade 2 Novice Hurdles, and the only Grade 1 race for Novice Mares in the calendar and a €100,000 bumper to close the card. This day not only features the best of racing but we also have free entertainment to keep all those small people busy.

Our KIDS GO FREE policy means that all the family can experience one of Ireland’s most prestigious race meetings for a fraction of the price all with the addition of free entertainment for all ages.

The feature Grade 1 event on a golden Sunday is the WillowWarm Gold Cup won in 2023 by Flame Bearer and formally by Galopin Des Champs, Al Boum Photo and Road to Respect. This leading novice chase always produces a winner that will progress into a genuine Gold Cup contender of the future.

This Grade 1 race for novice mares is the target for all the leading trainers with a prize fund o €100,000 and the added honor of being included on a trophy that has illustrious names such as  W Ashroe Diamond, Brandy Love and  the €800 purchase Skyace.

Grade 2

The Paddy Kehoe Suspended Ceilings Novice Hurdle compliments top class day of racing on Easter Sunday and produces a leading young hurdler to follow for seasons to come. Won in 2023 by Hercule de Seuil and formally by Echoes in Rain and Flame Bearer this is one of two Grade 2 races on the card.

Family Festival Marquee at the Final Fence

The Family Festival at the Final Fence hosts a range of food and beverage outlets, but more importantly will host our resident Magician, Puppet Show, Junior Einstein's Live Science shows featuring Elephant toothpaste exothermic reaction and Plasma Ball: Light the Lightsaber! Face painters and DJ Francie who will have his best Disney playlist at the ready for any little disco dancers!

Competition for Homemade Easter Bonnets

On Easter Sunday we also host the famous La Bucca Easter Bonnet Competition, a fantastic opportunity for the kids to show their creative side by making the most colourful and exciting bonnet hats. All you need to do is bring your bonnet with you on the day and enter in the Family Festival Marquee to win a range of prizes from our sponsors La Bucca Restaurant - remember the bigger and more creative the better!  Registration will be in the Final Fence Marquee from 11am -1pm

Hopping around Fairyhouse 

Our resident Easter Bunny will be hopping around the racecourse handing out Easter treats to everyone. He will also hop down to the Fairyhouse Kids Club which will be open over the three days of the Easter Festival and offers a range of games and toys to keep children entertained and also has a changing area and small persons bathroom.
