22 April 2019
The showpiece of the Irish Racing Calendar returns to Fairyhouse for Easter 2020 and marks the 150th running of the race. The "Race of the People" the BoyleSports Irish Grand National encompasses all the glamour and excitement that National Hunt Racing has to offer.
In 2019, a huge crowd was bathed in sunshine and enjoyed one of the
most exciting BoyleSports Irish Grand National winners for many years
at Fairyhouse, as they cheered home the winner Burrows Saint, trained by Willie Mullins giving him his first ever win in the contest. Ruby Walsh the winning rider, his third win in the race retired from racing just a week later. The course is a
gruelling 3 miles and
5 furlongs and has a massive prize fund of €500,000 which means the race is guaranteed to attract a stellar cast.
The BoyleSports Irish Grand National and the Easter Festival at Fairyhouse is about much more than the outstanding racing. There is great entertainment all weekend long. In 2016 the brilliant Paddy Casey took to the stage after racing to wow the crowds on Easter Monday and Sharon Shannon took to the stage on Easter Sunday. In 2018 and 2019 The Kilkennys played us out with a raucous set to keep the party going long after the racing was finished on both Easter Sunday and Easter Monday! There is also music throughout our hospitality areas over the 3 day Festival.
The racing is complemented with these great musical acts and a real party atmosphere is enjoyed by all in attendance. The 2020 Act will be announced closer to the event!
Easter Monday is the biggest day of the year at Fairyhouse, which in turn attracts
some of Ireland’s most stylish ladies. Our hugely successful Easter Festival,
culminating in the world famous BoyleSports Irish Grand National is home to one of Ireland's
most prestigious Ladies Days with elegant, authentic style on show. Here at
Fairyhouse we encourage brilliance on and off the track and invite competitors
to showcase their unique styles incorporating colour, emerging trends and tasteful
accessories in the hope of winning our coveted prize.
In 2020 we are delighted to partner with Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa for the second year and the lucky winner will win an amazing trip to Nashville. Each year Fairyhouse allocates a unique theme to Ladies Day and this year, with it being the 150th anniversary of the Irish Grand National, the theme is appropriately Modern Heritage. This years judge is celebrity chef Clodagh McKenna and she will be joined on the panel by MD of Dunboyne Castle Grainne Ross and presenter Sybil Mulcahy.
Leave the car at home and enjoy the Easter Festival Coach Service with our travel partners Marathon Coaches. A fantastic return service delivering you to the door at Fairyhouse direct from Dublin City Centre on all 3 days of the festival.
